A Justification and Application of Here-and-Now Intervention in Group Counseling.

Here-and-Now intervention is viewed as the key factor of group leadership techniques in group counseling. The purpose of this paper was to present the theoretical framework of using here-and-now intervention and to illustrate applications of this technique in group counseling.
In spite of emphasizing linear casuality which current problems was attributed to there-and-then, many individual and group counselors have used here-and-now approach regarding the treatment of client' or participants' problems, but they've tried to know all understanding from the past. This trends have came from Western culture which was to find out client's history regarding the treatment of present problems.
It's necessary to take nonlinear approach or circular causation. The counseling group is like other groups in a person's life which is in the family, the work place, and other social groups. People often manifest themselves as one of their patterns of behavior in the group counseling setting.
The understanding and treatment of contemporaneous interpersonal and intrapersonal events are more effective in group counseling. The factors of here-and-know will affect group members both inside and outside of group counseling.
Use of this modality can dramatically enrich the process of the group. The here and now can activate a group and turn even th most resistant and cynical members into interested, active participants.
