표현한 대목을 발견할 수 있음도 기존에 가진 북한소설을 이해하는 것과는 상당한 거리가 있음을 알 수 있다. 이는 이 기간이 정치적 권력으로부터 비교적 상대적 자율성을 확보한 시기였음을 말해주는 것이라 생각한다.
또 애국이나 구국을 위한 투쟁을 명분으로 내세우면서도 지극히 개인적인 복수심에서 전투 열의를 보여주는 작품들이 의외로 많다. 이는 바로 보복과 복수에서 반복되는 가운데 민족의 비극을 만든 한국전쟁의 구체성의 일면들이라 주목할 가치가 높다.
마지막으로 언급하고 지나갈 것은 북한의 전시소설에 드러난 애국주의가 해방기와 그 문학사적 연계성을 갖는다는 점이다. 사회주의적 사실주의의 전통을 확인할 수 있다는 점에서 그러하다. 북한의 전시소설은 유일사상이 정립되기 이전 카프 문학의 전통을 잇고 있는 사회주의 문학에 근거하고 있음을 알 수 있다.

Study on novels of North Korea in wartime

This study has the purpose to examine themes of wartime novels of North Korea from 1950 to 1953. During the wartime all the North Korean novels represented the noble patriotism of North Korean people.
The true stories of fighting heroes in the early wartime showed well the patriotism, which the Chosun Labor Party of North Korea wanted to show. Although the stories were not well-formed novels, they played important roles in establishing the foundation for novels of North Korea in wartime. As time passed by, the novels began to show the patriotism of common but brave soldiers of the People's Liberation Army, not only that of heroes. And the fighting stories of all the northern people, a driving soldier, a kitchen soldier, a boy, a woman, without distinction of age or sex, showed their devotion to the war. This appears in the novels showing not only the battle field itself at the front but also the lives of the people in rear. The wartime novels of North Korea, whether they are stories about battle things at the front or in rear, about a soldier or not, showed the patriotism, that is, how they fight for the sake of their country.
By the way, one thing we should focus on, is that the novels showed the patriotism as a whole but we can find emotional and sentimental stories in the patriotism. For example, ardent love between a man and a woman, or homesickness of a soldier can be seen in the novels. In addition, apart from the ideological conflicts or political affairs, the national homogeniety can be seen in some parts of the novels. These parts are unexpected to be in people's mind about the North Korean novels. It seems that the wartime is a period in which an author can feel free in writing from political government.
