This part is Mr. Lorry's words. It reveals nobles' despotism by showing misery detention. He described the person who in custody through his shabby clothes and bony hands which shield his face from the sunlight. It is very impressive when father and daughter repeated 'weep for it' together.
Conclusion
There is a love triangle between man and woman in a tale of two cities but, it is not a typical love story in the point of view that Carton sacrificed himself to save Darnay for his lover, Lucie. It is a clear. Historical novel and Dickens intend to talk about essential problems of the Revolution and wretchedness of absurd killing in the process of it through the French Revolution. Also, by this tale, he tries to accuse decadent nobility of living luxury and gay life and report miserable life of mass of people in those days life and why the revolution had to happen. He remarks the importance of the human rights and the deterioration of the revolution with showing the terrorism in the course of the revolution. He describes vividly the situation of the French Revolution at that time and discloses the absurdity of the nobility by literature. In addition, he place of using a guillotine which show the resentment of the people.
From this tale, readers can learn that a contradiction in the status system and awareness of the people can make an improvement as revolution. Moreover, readers have chance to think about what true freedom and life of equality are.
