1.1- leadership’s trend
“Who is a true leader in this generation?”
This question is in use as title of lectures or articles often. However, it is difficult to answer the question exactly. The reason is there are too many leaders from father closely to president of one country. We have seen and heard about leadership numerously. So it is too common topic and people tend to think less important about it. Now we live in this generation that has been globalized, diversified and individualized. There are many kinds of people having different experiences and thoughts. The leadership is a process of social influence in which one person can enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task. Therefore, the more intensify these matters, the more issue importance of leadership. The structure of corporation has changed from vertical to horizontal. At the same time, society replaces the generous leadership touching a person to the heart with interaction constantly to the authoritative leadership of the past. We should consider what true leadership is and try to adapt it to environment. Our team suggests one of interesting leadership styles. It is ‘Maestro leadership’.
1.2- What is maestro leadership?
When people image the orchestra, they usually think it’s the most harmonious organization. Symphony is beautiful and amazing. However, it’s very difficult to be in harmony among members than any other organizations. The orchestra members usually have strong personality and self esteem. Leading these members is a role of the maestro. Generally, most people think the maestro of orchestra is a strict person having dictatorial charisma. On the other hand, in maestro leadership, appearance of leader needs not only severe and strong charisma, but also delicacy and gentleness understanding members. It is an interactive leadership type and communication’s leading.
In maestro leadership, the leader has to have an ability to see forest and tree both. For example, in maestro case, if they focus on one player’s sound, they can’t make entire harmony. On the other side, if they try to listen to entire sound, they can’t find which part is problem. In symphony, sound of any instruments should not be louder or quieter. Therefore, the maestro has to conduct orchestra by adjusting all musical instruments’ sound heights or dynamics. He has also to show for members such as passion, creation, believe, flexibility, intractableness, knowledge and experience etc. Maestro’s role is to help members do themselves justice in the performance and give to them dignity and sense of accomplishment. They also exert their influence indirectly rather than before. Although maestro does not play the only single musical note, they have to make the one music with different instruments each. We notice that maestro is not different from leader.
