[Writing on the basis of several viewpoints]
Q. Some people believe that university students should be required to attend classes. Others believe that going to classes should be optional for students. Which point of view do you agree with?
It is believed that university students should be required to attend classes. On the other hand, some say that going to classes should be optional for students. We can choose whatever. However, in my opinion, university students have to attend classes. The bases for my views are academic, social, and personal.
From an academic viewpoint, even though a lecture is sometimes boring, university students need to learn from professors’ lectures since almost all students are just learners. Specifically, people can have benefits like learning methods from the lecture. Also, students can learn more from many different fields, even in ones they don’t want to be in. If someone should have questions, he/she could ask a professor right away during the class. In addition, they could develop their learning abilities as they do homework.
From a social point of view, studying in classroom is an invaluable resource to help meet many classmates. By attending class, students can develop their sociability. By studying together with diverse characters, especially in a group discussion, people can naturally learn about getting along well with each other and can be sociable. They are also able to take advantage of the wide range of communication skills.
