Introduction
There are many beverages to drink on daily life. Among beverages, one kind of beverages is alcohol such as beer, wine, sprits, mixed drink, and so on. However, another kind of beverages is nonalcoholic beverage such as juice, coffee, tea, soft drinks, milk, energy drink and water. Students drink from beverages not only in home, but also hotels, bars, clubs, beaches and parks. The time spent on drinking beverages activities gives students a sense of refreshment. Moreover, it helps students relieve stress. Therefore, students pursue drinking activities which bring them enjoyment. Accordingly, drinking activities often play an important role students’ daily life.
The purpose of this survey was to administer a question to international students of UWS collage to find out the preferred beverages and how much the students spend their time on drinking activities in Australia compared to their home country. Furthermore, the difference of preferred beverages by gender are considerable point in this survey.
Methodology
On Wednesday 23th December 2009 research was conducted on a sample
of 51 international students; 32 students were male and 19 students were
female. They were enrolled in EAPⅠ and EAPⅡ classes at the Westmead Campus of the University of Western Sydney. They came from different nations; Saudi Arabia(16 respondents) China(12), Vietnam(11) South Korea(4) Taiwan(2) Thailand(1) UAE(1) Turkey(2)
Libya(2).
The research used a questionnaire which had been devised by EAPⅡC students, and this questionnaire consisted of 11 questions about drinking habits. 9 of the questions were multiple choice questions and 2 of the questions were open ended questions.
The questionnaire was administered to 4 groups of respondents- 2 groups from EAPⅠand 2 groups from EAPⅡ. This group of administrators went to each class to distribute the survey and nobody was insisted.
