그 목적을 두었기 때문일 것이다. 이상적인 인간은 자연적으로 존재하는 것이 아니라 부단한 노력에 의해 완성되어 가는 것이라는 그의 인간관을 보여 주는 것이다. 그의 풍자는 단순히 비난과 조롱을 목적으로 한 것이 아이라 인간이 가지고 있는 잠재력이 이성적 성숙과 자각을 통해서 이 세상을 교정하고 개선할 수 있다는, 인간에 대한 애정에 그 바탕을 둔 것이라 할 수 있다. 인간 존엄성의 상징인 자유 의지로 도덕성과 미덕의 가치관을 추구하는, 이성적이고자 노력하는 인간상이야 말로 Swift가 꿈꾸던 인간이 도달해야 할 참모습이라 하겠다.

A study of Gulliver's Travels' Satire

The purpose of this thesis is to study Jonathan Swift's satire in Gulliver's Travels. Even if it has only after the turn of the twentieth centur that many prejuidices and misunderstandings surrounding Gulliver's Travels come to be corrected.
Swift can be ferocious, violent, coarse and apparently wholly intemperate in his satire, yet at other times shows remarkable sanity and common sense. He is becoming fashionable again for a variety of reasons, not least of all his ability to deconstruct existing idea of literary form, and traditional literary value. there is a searing individuality to Swift that also makes him an attractive figure to write on. Whilst Gulliver's Travels looks set to be forever the his work.
Swift created Gulliver as an objective observer and a person to take a journey tofour countris; Lilliput, Brobdingnag, Laputa, Houyhnhnms, and readers be aware of the satire through his journey. such are all the satire literary works of Swift. He has the intention of improving the weakness and contradiction of mankind, and leading the reader into the would of the proper recognition which should precede the enlightenment, in order to find out the real feature of human nature.
Consequently, he believe the potential of human begins could reform their self-deceptive foolishness through rational contemplation. He suggests endless affection toward human beings, and thought the reformation and improvement of the world could be achieved through self-awareness, rational action based on ethics and conscience.
