Executive Summary
With the aim of analyzing the tourist arrivals in South Africa, we have collected sets of data. Overall, the number of Tourist Arrivals has been increasing with small increasing rate even though there is some weakness in the tourism field.
In the meantime that we analyze Tourist Arrivals in South Africa, some geographical and social problems are found, such as racial discrimination, high crime level and economic decreasing. On the other hand, there are some factors that may increase the number of Tourist Arrivals. Sufficient tourism facilities can always attract tourists, such as hotels, resorts and national parks. South Africa also has plenty of natural resources. In this condition, South Africa has the ability to develop future tourism such as MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Conference and Exhibition).
In observation and recommendation, we can assume many conditions of social, economic and political situation in South Africa and suggest some opinions so that we can solve the problems and make it better in the future.
Other and more specific major findings of the analyze are;
qChanging rates of the number of rooms, bed-places and occupancy rate from 1995 to 1999 and it is shown that South Africa has enough accommodation for the tourist.
qThe segment of the international tourists in 1999. The majority of the tourists in South Africa are the Africans due to its geographical weakness.
qThe crime rate of South Africa compared with other countries. The crime rate of South Africa is the most serious one, and this is a weakness for her in developing tourism industry.
qThe purposes of the tourists to go to South Africa from 1995 to 1999 are mainly on holidays, leisure and business.
