에서 주창되고 있는 열린 교육은 반드시 인터넷이라는 가상공간에서 이루어져야만 되는 것으로 착각하고 있다. 즉 열린 교육=인터넷을 활용하는 교육이라는 등식에 묵시적으로 동의하고 있다. 물론 열린 교육=인터넷 교육은 미래에 추구해야될 가장 이상적인 대안이라고 볼 수 있지만 학습객체의 열림, 즉 학습자원, 학습내용, 학습환경 등의 열림을 구현할 수 있는 자기학습 패키지로도 얼마든지 열린 교육을 구현할 수 있다. 열린 교육이 이루어지기 위해서는 열린 마음이 선행되어야 한다. 학습주체의 열림과 학습객체의 열림은 물론 열린 학습을 지원하는 인프라의 제도적, 시스템적 정비가 함께 동반되어야 할 것이다.
