Making use of Retailer & Venture / joint venture : They support retailer such as Nodstrome.(department) And joint venture offers chance that brand value increases. Recently Starbucks\'s joint venture cooperates with Deryers Grrand Ice cream & Pepsi. This offers diffetent supply chain chance.
2. How management that supply chain?
Starbucks suppports all three channel by creating direct supply chain management organization.(don\'t different department) They think this way makes rising trend. So, it is \'E-SCM operation system\'.
They can see ingredient stock, product in plant, safety stock at real time. And they know stock, sale each retailer & each day by on-line for correctly purchasing. (hign-performance supply chain management)
And, they are not confront all types of client\'s demand for accurate demand estimate, process supply plan of their offering product. They can control manufacturing process in strategy. And they can improve product quality, use material effectively, reduce cost about unnecessary ingredient, manufacture indirectly.
3. What they do for correct demand estimate (correct manufacturing plan, distribute product)?
Circulation market vertical integrataion, control automatic manufaturing system : oracle GEMMS
Starbucks controls coffee ingredient supply, coffee roasting, packing, subsidiary retailer circulation. And company integrates vertically. Company uses automatic manufacture system ( Oracle\'s GEMMS ) for circulation plan and MRP. This system help company decides purchasing coffee long-term.

1) Employee schedule management : It\'s important strategy that assign resourece the focus high value such as employee managemnent in using SCM. (because cost competition is very important in market.) So, starbucks uses POS data to plan employee schedule. ( ex) How many need new employee to service coffee loving people.)
2) Decision location : Starbucks uses real property software-based customer information when decision new retailer location.
5. What they profit by SCM
Starbucks profits by SCM : Efficient assigment by resource, total cost, reducing ingredient cost, improve quality, improve ingredient processing time, control distribution circulation correctly in manufacture and so on.

Starbucks using a 3PL(The Third Party Logistics) in the Korea as logistics method. 3PL is a strategic partnership with logistics providing companies that perform all or part of company\'s logistics function. Through 3PL, Starbucks build a logistic\'s integrated systems, so they achieve cost savings, regional expertise, and improve the quality of services.
