Abstract
U.S. Intervention in the Middle East:
Its Effects and Limitations
The Middle East problem requires a careful analysis of U.S. Middle East policy. It is paradoxical that the U.S. has played a key role in bringing about the Middle East problem and has been considered as a crucial power to solving it. This study deals with the U.S. intervention in the Middle East from the perspective of its effects and limitations. The main questions are the motives to have driven the U.S. to the Middle East; the ways and characteristics of U.S. Middle East policy during the Cold War era; the impacts of post-Cold War era on U.S. intervention in the Middle East; the nexus between 9·11 terror and U.S. Middle East policy; and the prospects of U.S. Middle East policy. The study concludes that more U.S. efforts should be done by relying on political actions not on military ones in order to reach a fundamental solution to the Middle East problem.
